The girl from Casa Azul We all have dreams. Some big, others small. But how far would one go to accomplish one’s goals or dreams? Would one give up instantly or go on and on until you accomplish them?Other believe it is impossible. However some people like Frida Kahlo believes that she can do it. After Frida Kahlo was in an accident with a bus, she did not resign her dream of being an artist, but she determined to continue on and showed perseverance, bravery ,and strength, inspiring other people to never give up. First of all, Frida Kahlo is a brave young woman. Frida enjoyed expressing her inner and natural beauty in her paintings. Frida Kahlo is known for her beautiful, thick, natural eyebrows. Frida did not care about other opinions. Frida has also not given up on her dream. Frida Kahlo is a Mexican girl. To this day she is still known for her gorgeous paintings. A quote that proves her bravery is,” The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint always what passes through my head, without any consideration.” (Frida Kahlo, resource Frida Kahlo by Robyn Montana.) Even after her accident with the bus, Frida didn’t stop painting. Frida’s father set a canvas above her so she could paint while in bed. Frida had to stay six months in bed. She had broken most of her ribs ,shattered her pelvis, and broke her leg. After being bedridden for the six months, she continued painting. A quote by her also proves how far she's come even after what has happened with her,” Nothing is absolute. Ester Hernandez is a Chicana artist, best known for her works of Chicana women. Ester’s goal is to recreate women’s lives to produce positive images of women’s lifestyle and to create icons. Her piece, Frida y Yo, contains the iconic painter Frida Kahlo. Frida, after being in multiple accidents causing long-term pain and suffering, began painting, mostly self-portraits, to portray her reality and glorify the pain. Similar to how Hernandez's goals are a juxtaposition to Frida’s artwork, the art piece Frida y Yo creates a juxtaposition between life and suffering and death and fortune.

Literature grants many authors the freedom to express themselves through their works, particularly, black authors. Black literature had been confined for a specified period to certain writing restrictions that limited the imagination and potential of black writers to express themselves with fear of oppression. Yet, in current contemporary times, we see the rising of black female writers creating their own style of writing. They are finally at liberty to decide what they want to write and not be constrained by societal norms. This paper will focus on Toni Morrison, a black female writer who has gone against white/ black men societal standards because it is essential to her to focus on her culture's history, the oppression/inequality of black women and the importance that wisdom contributes to choices in writing and life.

In Frida Kahlo's painting she is in a conflict that she's having on her own unlike the poem it's not caused by other people. In contrast to the self portrait it shows more symbolism, for example notice the smoke that's behind her it's on the right side. Now that you have have that in mind the smoke shows an American flag it can represent the American side of her or her American culture. Furthermore the way the fog is placed makes it look like it's her thought bubble symbolizing she has it in her mind. Not only that on her left hand she is holding the Mexican flag to the left side telling us that is the Mexican culture and no matter what she will hold it
