How could we have forgotten the shock of the supernova that awoke us? After drifting from what are now ever escaping reaches of this universe, a force drew us to the place we would call “here.” The dance began as soon as we had arrived. Many dove into the warm center, but we held back. Our pace was slower, but more anxious than theirs because we had waited billions of years to attempt our plan. We held on to each other as we fought the force of its pull. Its spin aligned us on a disk as it grew massive. When the light came, the stellar wind blew away the remains of those who had not strived for a purpose . Those who chose the warmth had just been trapped in a thermonuclear hell that at best would free them as energy to fuel our endeavor, and at worst trap them in its core for trillions of years after it becomes a white dwarf. Of the eight large bodies forged in the dance, we were part of the only one apt to continue with the plan. Opposition came soon after.
