I recall how striking it was when I realized how much of Frederick Douglass accomplished while he was “only” a teenager and a young adult. Eking out an illegal education, leading church services as a teenager, escaping from slavery at 20, and spending the rest of his life touring the country to share his story and demand that we see change. Douglass was a man who would not be satisfied only by his own safety. He was internally driven by his faith in the Lord, the cause of justice, and perhaps most remarkably, that this justice could be brought about in his lifetime. It is in this spirit that I will be going out this fall to stand up against a similar cause. I, a man who has been my mentor, and a small group of friends will be walking across
