Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Lloyd Wright, born 1869, architect for over 60 years, had a great impact on architecture and influenced American design. Wright started his professional career when he was 19 years old at the prestige firm Adler and Sullivan. Sullivan, a visionary, was a revolutionary architect, making a better life and better architecture. Sullivan was convinced and influenced others with believing that architecture is art and the form of the building was followed by what the buildings purpose was . By 24 Wright established his own practice creating his unique design and originality. He is honestly the Albert Einstein of architecture, a true genius that altered the architectural landscape in America. Spending time on Wright's family farm in Wisconsin, Wright gained an appreciation for nature and incorporated nature into his design. Wright, "By organic architecture I mean and architect that develops from within outward in harmony with the conditions of its being as distinguished from one that is applied from without." Through this organic design, we see many buildings in modern day using nature as a predictor for many structures. One of Wrights most famous designs are "Taliesin West" (figure 1) located in Arizona. When looking at the design of this house, one can identify with Wright's passion for the environment in which the structure is built. This house literally blends in with the mountain in the background and he also uses neutral colors that melt in with the landscape. Another building in which Wright is infamous for with its organic design is the Guggenheim Museum (figure 2) in New York City.
