This I Believe
I believe in forgiveness. Forgiveness towards those who have wronged you. Why hold back the anger for someone, when life's unfolding right in front of you? In junior high I was cyberbullied. By a girl who was insecure about herself. The day it all happened I was angry, I was embarrassed, I was scared that everyone would pay more attention to me to make fun of how I looked. I was body shamed. I didn't have the perfect body like every other girl did and that was one of my weakness, my insecurity, and now everyone knew. The day I told someone about it, hoping it would end didn't turn out that way, I just got picked on by her even more at school. In Romeo and Juliet the two families are still mad at eachother after a long feud that happened a long time ago. In the play Romeo and Juliet,it is expressed that the ethic of forgiveness can affect lives in a positive manner and even in bad. In Romeo and Juliet, the sign of forgiveness is first introduced when Juliet forgives Romeo after he kills Tybalt (her cousin). Juliet does forgive Romeo for killing her cousin because she knows Tybalt would have not spared the life of Romeo if he had won the duel. The forgiveness, in this part of Romeo and Juliet, avoided future conflict, did not breed hatred, but ultimately did not create a response to punishment.At the end of the play, when Romeo and Juliet both take their lives, expressing a symbol of their everlasting love, the Montague and Capulet families finally understand what was going on and how it resulted into both families dying off. “As rich shall Romeo’s by his lady’s lie, poor sacrifices of our enmity” (Shakespeare).They expressed regret towards each other, but the main value that was expressed between the two families was the showing forgiveness. They forgave each other and promised not to spark another fight in the future, because that would ultimately lead to more deaths of innocent family members and unnecessary tension for the entire
