Two women are enjoying a walk in the park when they come across an abandoned body in a shallow grave. They immediately call the police and it is later ruled as a homicide. To determine how they were killed, when they were killed, and who killed the individual, the body must be examined and tested. Forensic scientists are the people who perform these experiments and analyze information to find the answer to all of these questions. Although not all forensic scientists do the same thing, they can specialize in certain areas. Some analyze DNA and fingerprints, some examine the body, and others test different materials found at the crime scene. How many job openings there are depends on the amount of crime occurring, budgets, and altered laws (“Careers in Forensic Science Crime Scene Investigator”14). While there aren’t any openings for forensic science in Morgan County, there are a few in Illinois. There are openings for a forensic scientist trainee, a forensic biologist in Westchester, Illinois, and a forensic scientist in Chicago, Illinois. There are even more openings throughout the country. A few of these openings include a forensic scientist in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a forensic lab director in Reston, Virginia, a forensic science examiner in Meriden, Connecticut, and a forensic specialist in Aurora, Colorado.
