How to Make Football Tougher
With football players becoming more delicate than ever, the question asked is, “How can we make football players more tough and rugged to increase the popularity of the sport and open it up to a more aggressive crowd?” Football, being a easy and timid sport to play, should have a higher level of contact, which can be fixed by following a few steps. If one has enough motivation to put in the work and breed a more enhanced football game, the more injuries the better, you can easily watch a more vigorous and brutal version of football in no time.
The first step is to completely get rid or referees. The players should be able to face each other without bossy referees, in their fancy black and white uniforms, telling

What’s the point of those regulations, to make the players safer? That’s not the point of football. To make football a more rigorous sport, the league should allow the use of steroids, which will increase levels of hormones, making players more muscular and stronger.
There are two options involving padding which can increase the fierceness of football: more pads or less pads. Instead of hard plastic, make the players’ gear out of metal. This will allow the sport to be less soft, making the players less small. Putting a big, muscular hormone-filled man inside of a metal helmet and shoulder pads would be like taking an armored motorcycle and attaching a machine gun to it. Both are strong, fast and dangerous, as football should be. Although, being strong isn’t the only thing that can increase the intensity of football.
Another way to make the sport tougher is to get rid of all the padding. Football players should wear nothing but a jersey and shorts. The turf and tackling on it will cause massive, agonizing cuts and bleeding, especially when the black rubber chunks lodge into it. One more benefit of having no padding is the increase of injuries. Come on, who doesn’t like a good injury? And the worst that could happen is you could die of a serious, gruesome and painful head injury, but that’s okay because it’s all for the
Are young children putting their health and even their lives at risk if they partake in the sport of football? Some claim that the American sport is far too dangerous and the risk of concussions and injuries far outway the pros of the physical sport, while others insist that technological improvements and new regulations have made the sport safer. Jonathan Zimmerman, a professor of history and education at New York University, argues in his paper, “We Must Stop Risking the Health of Young Football Players,” that football is a sport that is too dangerous for the youth. He states his belief that technological improvements in helmets and changes in the rules of the sport have had little effect on reducing injuries and that nothing has worked.
For the safety of the players in the present and future, a stricter concussion protocol should be required at all levels of football. Though improvements have been made, the game of football is constantly changing and the protocol needs to keep up with the changes. Today’s athletes are bigger, stronger, and faster than ever before: "Size and physical conditioning techniques in sports at all levels have evolved to create an intense athlete. They 're able to create more force, power and speed than ever before and that leads to harder hits and a greater number of hits" (Neporent). These advances in training have led to a more dangerous sport. The protocol has improved in recent years along with an emphasis on player safety, but the increasing numbers of players with long-term effects of concussions show there is still work to be done.
Football is an extremely violent game not only in the physical part but also in the mental part of the game. Players are coach to be vicious on the field. they are taught to get mad and take their aggression out on the other player. Which can be dangerous when two or more players are trying to hurt(intentionally or not) the other player by hitting them hard. High school sports are dangerous because rese...
Concussions have become arguably the #1 most prevalent issue in football today. The number of concussions throughout football has been rising for the past 20-30 years and there seems no way of stopping them. However, the NFL and many private researchers are set on finding a way to conquer this issue. They want to stop these concussions from happening and prevent the diseases resulting from them that have ruined so many football families’ lives. In order to solve this problem, I think that these researchers need to combine all of their knowledge to solve an issue that so many want solved. As soon as we conquer this “illness” we can return to enjoying the game that we love.
A. Subpoint: Many people do not like to focus on the violent nature of the game. Big hits and tackles are frequently praised and seen on top plays. But there are too many cases where these big hits result in serious concussions.
Since football’s inception, it has been considered a manly sport. Young boys have been encouraged by their parents to participate in the game. For many boys, it is considered a rite of passage. However, football is a dangerous sport. A study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy found, “an estimated 5.25 million football-related injuries among children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years of age were treated in U.S. emergency departments between 1990 and 2007. The annual number of football-related injuries increased 27 percent during the 18-year study period, jumping from 274,094 in 1990 to 346,772 in 2007” (Nation 201). These reported injuries include sprains and strains, broken bones, cracked ribs, torn ligaments, and concussions. A concussion usually happens when a player takes a hard hit to the head or is knocked unconscious on the playing field, and if not diagnosed and treated quickly, a concussion can result in death.
The NFL has already had changes to the way the players are allowed to come in contact with a defenceless player, but it does not address the problem as well as it needs to (“NFL” n.p.). There should changes that affect how long an athlete must sit out after receiving a head injury to avoid more brain trauma. Also, there should be trained personnel at every game to decrease the amount of undiagnosed concussions which will increase the player’s safety. These changes would make big strides in protecting the players while also appealing to Americans by not further changing the contact rule which would ease this
Changes can be made to try to make the sport safer, but as time goes on players will continue to get bigger and stronger, and we can’t change the fact that it is a full contact sport. Injuries will be inevitable, some will be minor and others can be fatal. Is a human life worth less than money or entertainment? Players risk the chance of a healthy future every time they step on the field. The human body is not made to take that continuous and ferocious impact game after game. Many players sell themselves short while putting their bodies in harm’s way which increases their probability of health complications down the road. If the violent aspect of the game is not addressed, it will negatively impact the future of players and the sport. Hopefully, the studies and research that is made public can somehow find a way to make the game safer for the players. Until that day comes, football is much too dangerous and not worth the
In today’s society sports are a huge part of our culture. People of all ages watch and play all different kinds of sports. It is the American way for people to take an interest in sports and activities. They are becoming more and more popular as the years go on. One sport that is extremely popular in this country is football. Millions of people watch football of different levels including professional, college, and high school. Also many younger kids such as 7 or 8 years old are playing pop warner. This is great but considering a recent problem with this sport is the rise of concussions. The amount of concussions due to playing football is constantly on the incline and is forcing people to question the safety of the game.
The National Football League (NFL) is a very popular sport in America. It is known for its spectacular touchdowns and amazing comeback stories. But most of all, the hard hits from one player to another. There’s been a lot of controversy over the protection of the players and the punishment of those who put others in danger with these hits. The NFL enforced strict rules against players who collide with other players in the case of a helmet-to-helmet hit, such as penalties and huge fines. A helmet-to-helmet hit is when a defender uses his helmet to hit the helmet of a defenseless offensive player. This is what to be called as a dangerous action to do in the NFL. The league created these rules to make the game safer. The causes of these rules being applied were the depression of the players once they receive the hit to the head, a disease that was found in former players after collisions, and concussions.
This is because the equipment does not protect the important parts of the body that are most vulnerable to injuries. Furthermore, they also don’t make football players hit or tackle other players correctly, leading to serious injury and some have even died, due to concussions or other serious injuries.
To summarize, football is a dangerous sport that can cause multiple serious injuries like brain damage, concussions, fractures and or death. The majority of people still think football is a menace, especially for teens that are still growing and developing. Equally important, there are analysis and programs indicate a number of injuries between high school exposures and collegiate football exposures and trying to find safer ways to play. Then again, there are doctors, trainers, and N.F.L players that are recommending new ideas to create a safer game for everyone to play without risking injuries as
While the use of helmets does aid in protecting players from brain trauma, they also increase the risky behavior of players; this is called risk compensation. Risk compensation is the adjustment of individual behavior, responding to the perceived changes in risk (TheFreeDictionary.com). Most people that wear helmets have a pre-conceived idea that, because they have a helmet on, they can possess more daring behaviors and be fine. The helmet is basically thought of as a tool to hit harder, or improve performance in today’s culture. Adventure writer and pilot, Lane Wallace (2011) accurately understands the dangers of helmets being used incorrectly, and how they are used as weapons instead of safety. Wallace also theorizes like the NFL, a change in football culture and of viewpoints towards helmets would vastly reduce trauma to the
Football injuries is something people hate to see and experience but are all a part of the game; and if athletes choose to play this sport they have to realize the longer you play the sport the more likely you are to get hurt playing that sport. Therefore athletes should be very careful and try to prevent if possible any injuries from happening to them as well as others.
Given the requirements stated previously, it would seem that the most effective way of preventing concussions in football while retaining the high-speed nature of the sport would be to make better helmets which increase the time of collision. This can be done by adding more padding, or by introducing more inelastic materials into football helmets and pads.
