This film was very interesting. I enjoyed it because it wasn’t like the other movies that I have seen before in the education department. Ron Clark was the closest one to relate back to “Finding Forrester”. While watching this film there were many outlining factors that were presented throughout the film like poverty, gender roles and class. In the beginning of the movie the first word that popped into my head was poverty. I then thought back into my head and started to think about class and the link between poverty and education. “The higher the socioeconomic level of a student’s family, the greater the student’s chances of finishing high school and college” (Gollnick 82). I tried to keep that thought in my mind for the entire film.

Especially since they were playing basketball and out of all of the windows Mr.Forrester's. I liked that Mr.Forrester became a mentor for Jamal, even though Jamal snuck into his home. It was an odd friendship that bloomed between the two. I didn’t really see that coming in the movie. But, the blooming of the friendship helped both of them in the end. Jamal got a mentor and a role model while Mr. Forrester got a friend and someone that he seemed to consider his family. This really showed that no matter what race or age you might be anyone can make a friend with someone else and it shouldn’t be a problem with society. I remember watching and seeing shocked faces coming from the room when Mr.Forrester was reading Jamal’s work then stated that they were friends. The room being shocked seemed to be the fact that Jamal and Mr. Forrester were friends. Jamal’s teacher couldn’t put his head around it because he assumes the worst from Jamal because of his
