1. Explain how film, radio, and television helped change America from a community based culture to shared, homogeneous culture.
Television altered the way we consumed our free time - people began remaining at home, more willingly than going out to the cinema or other places. Television exposed us to many different cultures on a bigger scale than ever before. Without doubt, the influence of television would prompt marked social change in America, as people began to relate to and emulate the values, concepts and trends of many different television programs like sitcoms that features “African Americans, Hispanics, and other culture families.” Television also played a significant role in the evolution of America’s national identity. Television produced an opportunity for uniquely different stories to be played out and allowed Americans to share different cultural experiences. Television also provided a direct channel for American and other cultures values, humor and style to impact society.
Over the decades, radio has confirmed remarkably adaptable to our changing way of life. The Radio played a most important role in the “Blue and jazz combined with country music to formed Rock n Roll.” On commercial radio, frequently played the music of American Rock n Roll, in a determination to capture the new youth market. Once Rock n roll had entered society, its style, boldness and lifestyle would soon follow. The evolving of radios also provided possibilities for marginalized groups to gain access to the airwaves. As for films, they have an enormous influence on culture. Television has given each of us a podium to voice our ideas on all sorts of social and political issues and share information with one another. It has brought out stress-free ways of communication and provided us with simply accessible means to reach out to people in numerous parts of the world. Thanks to technological development, we have been capable to achieve a podium that allows us to present ourselves to the rest of the world. The negative influences of television that are a result of an overexposure to it, are most often talked about. It is accurate to a certain degree that television has affected the society in a negative manner. But, unquestionably, television has proved being an enjoyment.
