In the 1960’s, times were tough. It was hard to find work to support one’s family. In the movie Brokeback Mountain directed, by Ang Lee has two main characters Jack played by Jake Gyllenhaa and Ennis played by Heath Ledger. They both look at life very differently and handle life in a very different ways. In the movie, Lee develops two amazing characters who seem to be tough masculine guys, a scene where the men are fighting on the mountain, Ennis has an awful temper and tends to be violent, and the home lives of Jack and Ennis were complicated. Jack is a rodeo cowboy and Ennis is a Rancher. His brother and sister raised Ennis because his mother and father died in a car accident therefore Ennis had to learn how life worked at a very young age. …show more content…

Neither of them were good husbands because they often cheated on their wives on they were reunited. When Jack came to visit Ennis for the first time in four years it was at Ennis apartment building and they hugged at first, but then they began to make out. In many peoples opinions any kind of flirting is considered cheating. Also, they weren’t good husbands because they lied to their wives such, as they were just fishing buddies. The two would leave their families for the weekend all the time to spend time with each other on Brokeback Mountain. At one point they had spent a week together up on the mountain. This was not fair to their children or their wives. Eventually Ennis and Alma get a divorce for many different reasons. When they got a divorce Jack thought that him and Ennis would be able to start there life together, but Ennis doesn’t see it that way. Ennis’s father once told him a story of what happened to a man that was openly gay. His father also showed in what they did to the man. Ennis does not want to admit to himself or anyone else that he is gay. Jack on the other hand didn’t really seemed to be bothered by the idea of being openly gay. Even though both Ennis and Jack had very different home lives with their wives and children and living in different states they still managed to make time for one
