Fieldwork Case Study My reflection was on a group book club which started with going to meet Dina Told, at her home in a living room. Dina helps teach reading and comprehension to children. The project took off as a summer camp in her yard’s gazebo. When it starts getting cold the group goes inside her house. The group sessions changed every month from house to house of members only. Sometimes the group meets at the library, bookstores, and parks. The observation was performed with the approval of each child’s parent that only asked to change their child’s names upon doing this study. She can read very well and speaks in a clear tone. This allows the leaders to see that she is independent in her ability maneuver socially. She can demonstrate what she understood about the story and arrive at her own conclusion. Lee: Personally is babyish; she likes to grab the attention of everyone. This, five years old has common sense, but not common ground. She can be swayed by others and cause the group to get off tasks. She can out whines, Jazmine. This allows the leader to see work is still needed in bringing her up to the reading level she should be. Want was different about this study is the leader allowed the children to lead themselves in the group discussions. Each child listens with respect and common courtesy. Even though there were moments of possession, whining and chaos happening the group managed to stay focused on the genres, details and predicting the outcomes of the stories they read together without stopping the entire
