However, with the development and change of food habits, new dishes are being incorporated to the traditions in the contemporary times, which are the case of food encountered at carnivals and other festivities across the globe, such as the barbecue.

4. Festa Junina Nowadays
In contemporary times, we can observe a process of spectacularization and touristification of the June festivities in some Brazilian cities, especially in the Brazilian Northeast, which perform festive events of large physical proportions and with a strong factor of media coverage of its realization.
With the crescent globalization and the increase in the interest in gastronomy in the Brazilians, new food trends have been emerging in the country, leading to a transformation of ‘normal food’ to ‘gourmet food’.
In an article published by Folha de São Paulo, one of the leading Brazilian newspapers, in the month of June, the journalist Patrícia Britto reports that in the festa junina of Campina Grande, called the ‘O Maior São João do Mundo’ ( world's largest Saint John's Festival), the “junines delicacies are exchanged for Japanese, Arabic and Mexican food” .
5. Centro de Tradições
In the written piece “Noble Savages” by John Hemming he give an historic account of different European adventures in the Brazilian mainland. He also tells some of the stories about the Brazilian people that were taken back to Europe about the savages’ way of life.

In “End of Ethnic” by John Birdstall, he informs us of his point of view on what ethnic food is, and what we as Americans think of it. In addition, Kate Murphy’s “First Camera than Fork” talks about the positive and negative aspects of the “Foodie” world on the internet. Modern American food is an open book, full of different ethnic creations, and eye candy. Pop culture doesn’t affect Cooked in the same way other “culinary-obsession movies” do (Gleiberman, 2002, p. 62). The way pop culture affects food also changes from region to region. The Brazilian culture is one of the world’s most wide ranged and diverse. This is a result due to it being a melting pot of nationalities, as a result of centuries of European domination as well as slavery, which brought large groups of African migrants across Brazil’s borders to live in and influence the local cultures with their ancient customs and ideas. The celebration of the Carnival first began in Italy before the first day of the Lent season and was later brought to Brazil by Catholic Portuguese settlers in the 18th century. The origin of Carnivals may not be Brazilian, yet even today Brazil most embodies the Carnival celebrations and spirit. There are many small festivals held throughout the year, but few claim to be comparable to the annual “Carnaval” in Rio de Janeiro. The celebration is only a small part of the year, but its influence on the community remains for the whole year. Carnaval is considered a time when socio-economic status disappears and communities come together.

The proportion of money spent on food eaten away from home, as well as the number of restaurants, has been increasing since the second half of the twentieth century. People may dine at formal, sit-down restaurants, at fast-food eateries, at cafes, or they may purchase food from street vendors. There has been an “Americanization” of diets through the growth of fast-food restaurants.
The media has a lot to do with the way we perceive ourselves.
