The Career as a Farmer

In farming, they grow crops like corn, wheat, soy, beans, or they raise livestock like cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, etc. They sell what they produce and get satisfaction in knowing their money comes from the very soil they work. Of course, the soil isn’t usually worked by hand anymore. Farming is now a high tech industry, requiring the use of complex machinery that has automated many of the manual tasks laborers once did.
While farming can mean growing anything from artichokes to wheat,or raising livestock such as emu and cattle, the activities that most farmers perform and the skills they have are similar. Once the soil has been cultivated and the weather is suitable, planting can begin.
Along with making use of high-tech advances, most farmers still use traditional methods such as crop rotation and monoculture. Their knowledge of agriculture and soil conditions kets the determine the most beneficial strategies for planting crops and managing pests. During the fall, farmers harvest using machines like grain combines. These larger, more productive farms are better able to withstand the adverse effects of climate and price fluctuations on farm output and income.
Still, several initiatives such as the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program and the various farm loan programs are designed to help farmers and ranchers acquire land and operating capital. These programs may help to offset the market pressures farmers and ranchers pace.
In contrast, agricultural managers should have more opportunities. Owners of large areas of land, who do not live on property they own, increasingly will seek the expertise of agricultural managers to run their farms and ranches as businesses.

Advancements and Related Jobs
Some farmers could work as mechanics becauase they often have to fix equipment like tractors and field machinery. Many could work in sales, especially for farm porcucts like feed, seed, and equipment. Some who get good at business could go into bookkeeping, but that would need more training and that’s way down the road.
