Family violence happens more often than it seems. Depending on the size of your family you can be more or less likely to have victims of violence. The environment, size, functionality, and stability all plays as a factor in potential family violence that may occur in a household. There are many types of domestic violence such as psychiatric models, social-psychological explanations and socio-cultural classifications. The article studies family violence that is affected differently due to the environment an individual lives.
Many families that deal with such violence is from a spouse. People that use drugs or alcohol have a higher risk for family violence. Also, individuals that are economically dependent on their spouse are more likely to deal with violence from their significant other because of the power struggle between the two. For example, age and gender are two of the leading factors of family violence. Females are more likely to be assaulted than a man, as studies show within the article.
Family size is thought to be a major part of family violence. Studies show that a family with two children is less likely to be as violent than a family with more than two children. Also, married …show more content…

Even though the sample of victims is low compared to the total population of people and families, there is a large percentage of the families that are not victims of domestic violence. The data in which was collected is based on age, gender, education, and race. The minority races did not show that it affected the chances for victims to be present. Marriage status indicates that it is less likely to occur in a family household with a couple that has a good relationship and marriage.
