Family Trees By Brittany Stutzman Families can sometimes be complicated. Many families have a history that may not want to be shared. I believe people may not want to learn about their relatives because fear of the unknown. Some families may have experienced failed marriages, siblings with different mothers, fathers or even worse, incest. The people living with these issues still have to get through the day, and this could be especially challenging. Nevertheless, relationships are not all bad. Family trees bring a new perspective in many areas such as: relationships, knowledge and inspirations. Families are based on all different kinds of relationships with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. You may not know all your family members, but no matter how closely related or how long you have known them, most families possess a strong bond. An example that comes to mind is when I first met my cousin Alissa. In meeting, we did not like each other but when we found out we were related, our attitudes changed. Being related gave us a better connection and we became more open in our relationship. This bond became strong; it felt like we were real sisters. …show more content…

The knowledge may help you better understand yourself. It can show the ages of past relatives, and what they enjoyed. This will help you become more comfortable about yourself, especially to know where you come from. A family tree can generate stories as well; find out how your parents were raised. Knowledge of your family line is very important, because it is really good to prevent the beginnings of any issues and mistakes that happened in the past. Issues of abuse, with relationships with a family member can be disturbing, (this is known for happening in small communities in the Yukon). Understanding is the beginning of knowledge, and a family tree is a very good tool for this
