Wealth and fame are not necessities that are needed to be happy with life. Fame and wealth are very sought after, because many people think those things and happiness go hand and hand. People are often mislead by this theory, money can make a person happy but it can also ruin every relationship they have and it can kill any ounce of joy they have.Wealth can be an idol that blinds people to the truly important things in life. When people solely focus on money to make them happy, they become emotionally and physically exhausted. When people are exhausted they tend to lash out at the ones that they love. In the Bible at 1 Timothy 6:10 it says; “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs”. …show more content…

To be successful is to be respected, loved, admired, and it is to be able to support your family without struggle. Wanting money is doing whatever it takes to achieve that financial goal, even if that means hurting the people you love and care for the most. It means giving up everything you are passionate about, just because you do not think it will bring in enough money. Jay Gatsby is the definition of using money to try to be happy. He is a very wealthy and liked man around his town. He throws extravagant parties in his beautiful mansion, yet he still feels so alone and sad even in the midst of the thousands of people attending his party.
