Factors Helping Children Learn Their Native Tongue There are many factors as to how a child may be able to learn their native tongue at a very young age. Each of these factors has advantages and disadvantages in a child’s learning to speak their native tongue and some are more effective than others. This essay will discuss each of these factors and how important they are. Some of the factors that will be included in this essay are the children imitating their parents, being taught by their parents, interaction with adults and the child’s ability to work out the rules of grammar. It has been said that in their development of language, children begin to make sounds or say words by imitating what they hear. This is often by trying to say what their parents say, including pronunciation of the words and sounds, which also plays a part in a child’s acquisition of phonology.
