Throughout my high school career, I have always been closely involved with our local chapter of FBLA. Freshman year, I piled my schedule with a plethora of CTE classes to push myself to learn crucial skills. Through those classes, I met my FBLA advisor who was the person to give me the final push into joining. She noticed my high scores on all of the Microsoft Office certification tests and suggested that I join FBLA to compete in Word Processing. At first, I was terrified with the prospects of getting on stage in front of thousands of people to receive awards – and then I fell in love. I am now the vice president and have a more commanding role; I am able to complete more crucial tasks and lead the club as a whole to success. In the past, we as a group have not gotten anything done in the terms of fundraising. This year, things are going to be different because the president and I have already met with our principal to clear certain things up, and are on top of everything we deem necessary. We have also increased our club membership by 150% and received a reward at the state level. As vice president, it is my job to lead our separate committees, make sure they stay on task, and compile all of their collective information. Last weekend, I raised nearly $500 in ten hours by selling coupons at our local fair. I am also the head chair of our “Mentor/Mentee” committee. This means that I attend and proctor the new FBLA chapter of a local middle school that I also helped create. Creating an entirely new chapter took a lot of effort and time, but was well worth it as it allows middle school students to get interested in business so that we can recruit them in high school. I believe myself to be a natural born leader, and am very proud to be helping these children become their own
