Revitalizing Our Local Park: A Community Service Journey

Our FBLA assignment was Community Service. As our community service, we cleaned up our local park. Many tasks needed to be done, and many students came together to complete them. Our goal was to make our park a better place for everyone in our community. We planned to accomplish everything we could. Our purpose in cleaning our park was to encourage people in our community to visit the park more often, enjoy it, and make it a better place for everyone to come and enjoy. Some of the things we accomplished were:
(1) clean bathrooms
(2) repaint lines on basketball court (3) pick up trash and tree limbs that had fallen
(4) paint the bat holders in the dugouts In order to complete this mission, we had to start with a detailed planning process. First, we had to get permission from the mayor and city council before we could begin on the project. Second, we had to create a long list of all the supplies we were going to need for the project. Third, we had to earn/ collect money from the fellow members of the group ,so we could buy the products we needed. The community park bathrooms were a complete catastrophe. The men’s restroom had urine all over the walls, which made it smell horrendous. The floors were a mess, and had dirt all over them from the dirt being tracked in. So, to resolve this, we swept and mopped the dirty, nasty, smelly floors. One of the toilet seats was very unstable. As a solution, we tightened the screws that holds the toilet seats down. After we fixed the toilet seat, we cleaned them, and made them look immaculate. Next, we had to repair the sinks. The sinks had constant dripping pipes. We discovered the problem and addressed the matter hastily. We also took out the trash that was collected in the bathroom trash cans. We also added air fresheners to make the bathrooms smell
