In Nick’s quote “Gatsby had an Extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness.” He isnt really talking about Jay Gatsby, Nick is talking about the walls Gatsby puts up. The reason he puts up these walls are for him to see daisy again. That 's the only reason he throws the extravagant parties is to get daisy to come to one. Gatsby is only after one thing this whole novel and that is Daisy Buchanan.

Nick doesn 't know he is being used. When Nick met Gatsby he was astonished how amazing Gatsby was, Nick was swooped up into the dream that Gatsby is. When Gatsby realizes how Nick idolizes Gatsby he starts to use him. Gatsby isnt really Nicks friend Gatsby knows that Nick is daisy 's cousin, Daisy is truly Gatsby 's true love and will do anything to get to her. The whole time nick is blinded by the ideas he has of gatsby and how he is what nick wants to be. Throughout the novel Nick keeps up the gig that he engaged but truly all along he has a crush on Jay Gatsby 's. While reading the novel “The Great Gatsby.” Nick truly is memorized by how amazing some parts of Gatsby but cant realize how much of a fake Gatsby really is. All Gatsby 's and Nick ' friendship is Gatsby using Nick to get to daisy, the same reason he throws the parties every weekend. While people at his party talk about how amazing Gatsbys cars are or how amazing his mansion is, Nick is fantasizing about meeting him just like most people are. When Nick meets Gatsby outside on of lavish parties he realizes that he and Gatsby served in the same division. Even though Nick and Gatsby already met when fighting together. Nick is still amazed by Gatsby, and the illusions Gatsby is. Gatsby knew before introducing himself to Nick who Nick really was, and that is Daisy 's Cousin. Again this relates that all Gatsby is putting up
