Good morning madam speaker, I am here with great honour as parliament member for Woodridge. Law is a sense of stability and control. Law gives us a basic outline of wrong from right and without this there would be anarchy, without the limitations of the law there would be nothing stopping us from doing wrong and no consequences from doing so. Laws are almost a subconscious personal protection. The current state of this law puts our whole legal values in jeopardy with the existing legal age for alcohol consumption being 18, therefore the legal age should be revised to 18. This group of stakeholders would argue that it would kill the night life although with a recent report showing that one in eight deaths of Australians aged under 25 are related to alcohol consumption (ABC News), this horrifying statistic clearly shows that there is a need for change. This amendment would also aid jobs and work life for the special services.
