Teachers should not be allowed to hit students for several reasons. First, teachers shouldn’t be allowed to hit students because hitting students create a negative learning environment. For example, if teachers hit students, it may provoke fear, tension, anger, and/or resentment between the teacher and the students. In addition, teachers being allowed to hit students may cause some students to develop anxiety and have a low self-esteem. For instance, Tom comes to school late after talking to the village’s outcast, Huckleberry Finn. Tom knows he’s going to be hit by the teacher when he come into class and tells him about visiting Huck, but he doesn’t care since he gets hit for being in trouble all the time, and the punishment, beside getting hit, might include having to sit on the girl’s side of the classroom, where Tom may get to sit and flirt with his crush, Becky Thatcher. This shows that teachers hitting students does not deter kids from getting into more trouble because using hitting as a punishment for everything will make it lose its value, and it’ll eventually seem like a normal punishment to the person receiving it repeatedly over time making the harsh and strict technique ineffective. On the other hand, there are more effective and safer alternatives to punish and decrease bad behavior and promote and increase the opposite, such as ISS or in-school suspension and OSS or out-of-school suspension, where students in ISS are to attend school as usual, but are sent into a room designated for ISS, while OSS is where students are banned from school during school hours in a certain period of
