Minors should be allowed to have social media accounts because it can be used for communication and a form of self expression. It is good for minors to communicate with friends, family, and people in general. Communication with others helps keep teenagers social and can help to improve their people skills. It also is a way to keep in touch with family who may not live close to them. Social media keeps minors up to date with what's going on in not only their lives but also their family and friends lives also. Social media gives minors the chance to express how they are feeling and confide with other people who have or had felt the same way. Teen are being slain by cyberbullies everyday. Not all social media is good for teens. Even no social media is better. Almost every teenager has a cellphone or some sort of device that lets them check their social media. Many websites like Facebook, Instagram, and snapchat are bad and can cause teenagers to do bad things to themselves or other people. Banning social media will make teens have better grades, be more safer, and have more self confidence with less depression.

When you young adults look at their profile on a social media account it makes them feel good, not lonely like some kids feel in school. Also, young adults can ask personal questions online that would be too embarrassing to ask in person. It also improves mental health.

We are now living in the 20th Century. We have lots of things out in the world that can hurt our children. Parents need to be aware of what is out there. There are many websites that our children can get on and meet new people. My Space is an example. People can get on those sites and set up fake profiles to hurt our children. Parents should be aware of what they are doing, checking on them. Making sure they are not looking or doing things that could harm them. My Space can only do so much before they can't. If its breaking the law they need to turn it over to the police or to the right person.
As a result of all of this information I have provided to you, there are more cons then there are pros when it comes to social media for kids under the age of 13. It is safe to wait until the child is the appropriate age to allow them on social media. Children under the age 13 should be more into school or natural play than social media. This can affect them a lot so please take my advice and wait until they are older so all of the cons can be avoided. When they are older they will be smarter, and able to understand what and what not to do.
