The High School principal made an announcement on graduation requirements. Each student has to complete between 25-30 hours of community. This will be part of the seniors’ requirement for graduation. If they don’t complete it before graduation, they will not be able to walk with their graduating class. Students should be able to do 25-30 hours of community service as a part of their graduation because it’s rewarding, has positive change, and is eye catching on college applications and resumes. The principal believes this will be a rewarding experience for the students. This will give them the opportunity to help the community. Also, they will be helping the less fortunate citizens. He believes it will make them feel good that they are helping.
If students want to learn more about their field, they should feel inclined to actually do the work on their own. Also, if a school makes each student complete at least 24 hours of community service to graduate, every student in the school will graduate with the exact same amount, which means hundreds of students are going to the workforce with no advantage over the other.

I agree with Mr. Adams and I think colleges should provide both types of education. Calling for students to complete community service hours will build the grounds on which they build the rest of their lives. However, many people don’t even give community service a chance. They say they’re too busy, it’s not for them, or simply choose not to do it. At my high school, we were required to complete thirty two hours of community service for graduation; many students came to love it.

It’s not the first time I am doing community service as I have done several voluntary community service projects with the club I enrolled in school, but at the moment I fall under the category of doing community service in order to fulfill my requirements to graduate.
