We need to communicate with children to to build a positive relationship which will then help to develop the childs confidence, feelings of self worth and aid them to be able to build good relationships wot others. In addition to this it is needed to provide emotional security which can be done by showing a genuine interest in what the children have to say as well as providing comfort when the children are upset. It is mainly needed to to encourage the childrens development as it is essential for learning, play and social interaction.
The need to communicate with young people is similar to that f children, however, with young people it is also needed to build their self esteem and confidence which will then help them to make friends, as friendships …show more content…

With young people you could try a brief exercise through gently stretching for example their fingers. Also a sense of humour and a gentle response could be used as an effective way of of diffusing an embarrassing situation for example if an embarrassing question has been asked this can help the child or young person to not feel upset or anxious. the context of the communication may also be affected by by the situation so if you are out in the playground you may want to consider communicating less formally and try to get to know the children or young people for example this could be done by sharing likes or dislikes or discussing what they did at the weekend, this will then help to build trust. In all contexts you will want to remain professional and maintain a professional relationship when working with children or young
