Arrival When twelve mysterious spacecraft arrive on Earth, the government looks to expert translator Louise Banks to find out their reason for being there. As their presence becomes more apparent, governments around the world become more and more nervous. Banks discovers the aliens’ true purpose and to avoid global war, takes a chance that could threaten her own life and humanity. I did not like this movie because the plot was not very interesting, the characters were not very well developed and the music was not very emotional. One factor that made this movie hard to enjoy was the plot. There was no real story. This movie was interesting when it first started but as it continued, I found myself asking lots of questions and being constantly confused. They left a lot of questions unanswered. There was no apparent climax to this movie. There were many parts that were suspenseful, none of which seemed to correlate with one another. At the beginning of the movie we are introduced to Louise Banks, an expert translator. This is about all the information we receive about her character during the whole length of the film. There is no character development. We don’t learn how she became an expert translator or anything about her personally other than she had a daughter who died of cancer. This makes it really hard to connect to the characters which in turn makes the movie less enjoyable. Although the majority of the acting in this movie was decent, there were still some parts where the acting could have been better. Some parts of the actors’ delivery were not very solid; almost as if they themselves were confused about their lines.
