A Journey Makes a Hero
In every story involving good versus evil there is always a hero and a villain, a quest to accomplish, and people that need to be saved. Moreover, the archetype, “The Journey”, describes the main character, who takes a journey that may be physical or emotional, to understand their personality and the nature of the world. Consequently, a journey is a key component to a hero’s development, as it represents a change and growth within the hero. Usually this new growth affects the hero positively and makes them mentally stronger. The situational archetype “The Journey”, is present in both “Theseus” and Hercules. During the myth “Theseus”, Theseus’s journey allowed him to grow as an individual by providing him with the lessons: a hero is not made easily and asking for help does not diminish heroic acts. Yet, Theseus decided to take the much hard routes to become a hero quickly and decided to face each task alone. The Athenians even had a saying in the myth “Theseus”, “Nothing without Theseus.” Ultimately, the people depended on Theseus and his strength to save them from the Minotaur because of the many challenges and enterprises …show more content…

Similarity, Theseus, like Hercules, had amazing strength and had to also prove himself to his father. On the other hand, Hercules was part God and had to face against not only villains in this world, but the underworld. Although, Theseus and Hercules story are very similar. Their journey’s gave them the courage, strength, and compassion to be a great leader. Even when the odds were against them, they persevered and ultimately were very successful. In the Disney movie, Hercules, it says, “ I know every mile will be worth my while. When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong.” Therefore, the journey helped both Theseus and Hercules by giving them experience and the qualities of a true
