Prejudice is when you make a judgement about someone or something without any knowledge about the person or the subject. An example of prejudice in “The Hobbit” is when the dwarves judged Bilbo Baggins because he is a hobbit, and they do not feel he can be trusted. In the book, the dwarves are trying to find their treasure that was stolen by a dragon. Gandalf, a wizard, tells the dwarves that Bilbo is a burglar, and that he can help them. The dwarves know that Bilbo is a hobbit, and that hobbits are quiet and don’t like adventures. They aren’t sure that Gandalf made the right recommendation, and they begin to ask Bilbo questions.
