The novel My Sister’s Keeper beings by introducing Anna Fitzgerald. Anna is a loving,caring bubbly thirteen-year-old girl, just like any other right? No, Anna was "born for a very specific purpose" (page 7) this purpose was to save her sick sister Kate’s life by giving her everything from blood, bone marrow, spinal fluid, all the way to her kidney. Kate was born with acute promyelocytic leukemia a type of cancer and would be dead by now if it wasn't for Anna. This will soon cause a major conflict in the novel as Anna gets tired of giving all of her body parts to her sister and having no choice but to do so. Anna decides to go and hire the best lawyer in order to sue her parents for the rights to her own body. This makes a major conflict as if Anna doesn't give her sister Kate her kidney like her parents want her to Kate will die.

We make many decisions every day. Some are as simple as do I want oatmeal or cereal for breakfast? Go to the movies or go to the mall? Though none of these choices that we make on a daily basis would be quite as hard as the one Anna is faced with. This …show more content…

The irony is used a few times in this novel the first time that Irony is used is when Anna goes to the lawyer to see her parents to the rights to her own body. This is Ironic as you would think why sue her parents? She only thirteen how can she do that? And why would all of the sudden Anna no longer want to keep her sister alive after already giving her so much, and the fact that it's her sister I would do anything to keep my sister alive. Another use of irony is when Anna tells her parents that she is not giving her kidneys to kate . This is ironic as you would expect both of her parents to be mad at her, like do you want you sister to die ? but instead, only her mom was angry her dad, on the other hand, wasn't mad he was ok with it as they never really did every ask Anna if she wanted to do it they just made
