Greed in Macbeth Throughout Macbeth, the greed which Macbeth and Lady Macbeth carry, leads them to do acts which are not applicable. They demonstrated their greed by killing individuals who quite frankly did not deserve such an inevitable fate. Macbeth and his lady were not the only ones to ever be overtaken by the powers of grief. In thousands of other books, plays, movies,and television shows, characters struggle with the wrath of greed and it shows in their actions. Frank Gallagher from Shameless is a prime example of greed consuming a person. Macbeth and Frank both act upon urges which only benefit them, while taking from others, making them extremely similar. Macbeth was power hungry. He wanted nothing more than to become loyalty, but one person was standing in the way, King Duncan. He never wanted to kill the king in the first place, but Lady Macbeth encouraged him and made him succumb to peer pressure. Frank Gallagher also fell into the trap of greed, but instead of fighting for the throne, he was fighting for money to buy alcohol and drugs. He betrayed many throughout the Shameless series, making peoples hate towards him grow, eventually turning his family against him, similar to Macbeth. For Macbeth, it was driving him insane and leading to his death. For Frank, it was liver failure and his whole family turning against him. In the end, they both lost more than their life or family. They lost their morality and were unable to live life with a stable life style. Macbeth lived the rest of his life in constant fear and uncertainty. While Frank lived day to day, unsure if he would make it another day as his disease progressed. Once he did get better, his family turned their backs and could not put of with his unruly
