One of the most important traits displayed by Odysseus is his courage. Throughout his journey he has courage when fighting off monster,Gods, and other mythical things. One example of this is near the end of the story when he is about to fight off the suitors. He decided to fight off all of the suitors with mostly just his son. For him to kill of all the suitors just to get his house back is very courageous.Right before he attacks them all, he strings his bow and takes aim at Antonis, then shoots an arrow through his throat ”Odysseus’ arrow hit him under the chin and punched up to the feathers through his throat. When he arrives at her palace he says”Here in this house you turned my men to swine;now it is I myself you hold, enticing into your chamber, to your dangerous bed,to take my manhood when you have me stripped.I mount no bed of love with you upon it.Or swear me first a great oath, if I do,you’ll work no more enchantment to my harm.” To go and talk to a witch who could do horrible things to you requires extreme courage.The Greeks would have valued this trait because of wars and battles. Almost all greek myths have heros with great courage. As they were a warlike people they would adore people with this trait.
