Racism, it’s been around throughout all of history. Racism-prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Racism is a very strong feeling towards other humans. Racism still continues till this day. Three examples of racism is the civil rights movement (Martin Luther King jr.-1954–68), The KKK(Ku Klux Klan), and the white supremacist attack(Charlottesville 2017). MLK was a huge inspiration and played a big part in US history. He lived in a time period where African American people and Caucasian people where segregated. Caucasian people had the upper hand in society during the time period. MLK did not like that white people and black people had to separate from different schools, different bathrooms, different water fountains. MLK could not take anymore. He stood up to the government and would break rules to have peace and equality. No matter how many times he was arrested, no matter how many times he broke the rules, he still stood tall and strong against the …show more content…

Their symbol for the organization was a burning cross. They held rallies, parades and marches around the country. In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson delivered a speech publicly condemning the Klan.
