The Drive To Success Dedication is a term that displays one's commitment to a task, goal, or purpose regardless of the possible challenges imminent through the process. Dedication is a term that has guided me throughout my time at LaSalle Academy. This trait is one that I refuse to be stripped away from me as I am dedicated to identifying various approaches that will allow my success. Despite numerous obstacles that have been put in my, my dedication continues to be my driving force to success. Hence, being one of the few underrepresented students attending a private Catholic school, my dedication to adapt to change, in regard to race, social class, and rigor has inspired me to stand out as a role model for those who may share a similar background as mine. Successfully completing biology I was ecstatic when approached by my biology teacher about an opportunity in honors chemistry. My teacher advised me to think put thought into this given my core limitations. As intimidating this course seemed, I decided to enroll in honors chemistry, being aware of the fact that embarking in this challenge will help me in the long run. I am a student from the midlothian campus retaking BIO 101 for the third time. Last semester, I enrolled for BIO 101 with Prof. Rupa Bandyopadhyay. I did not preform well in her class as my father became injured and after multiple knee surgeries he was unable to work and drive. From that, I ended up moving to his house in Glen Allen to help him around which resulted in me missing classes which prevented me from the coursework. Although I failed this class, from the beginning, before my father's injury, I had actively participated in class sessions and found the way she taught/lectured was very understandable and effective. During my early education, meaning elementary school and middle school, I was a very average student. I gave an average amount of effort to my grades, and I received above average results. This did not bother me, until the end of my 8th-grade year. At this point in the year, I was filling out what classes I desired to take the following year, my freshman year. I realized that from this point forward, I had to take my education much more serious, in order to get accepted to whichever college I desired. therefore, when planning my classes, I decided to challenge myself more than I ever have in the past, and take multiple honors courses. I assumed because of my grades, that I had what it took to be an honors-level student, but I was very wrong. One teacher, Mrs. Johnson, made me realize the kind of effort, time and energy needed to be devoted to my education.
This deep dive into self-knowledge occurred when I received my first progress report for second semester Ninth Grade Algebra. To say that I was put into a space of shock and awe is an understatement; I was outraged. I was completing all my assignments and turning in homework, but my poor test grades were obliterating my grade.

And Biology of Women is a very easy class if you do the work. From making these big changes I can assure you I will hit the three point mark. I have a 95 average in my Philosophy Honors Class, his class consists of no tests but you have do critiques and I received mostly all check pluses and I have a 100 average in Criminal Justice 225. In French 177, I received an A- on my presentation her class has no test but you do need to participate and if you don’t like a grade you can redo the assignment over and get a better grade at the end. For senior seminar our grade as not been report but I have turned in 32 pages for my regular thesis and still working on my honors thesis. I have been bless that the things are tuning around my life

The biggest challenge I ever faced personally is when I decided to taken AP Biology during my senior year of high school. One of the reasons I took this class, was that I wanted to gain a few credits before I started college. The other was that, my original plan was to take a class that have me a step into my future major, Biology. Technically the major I wanted to take was Zoology, but very few colleges, especially Farmingdale, don't have it.
At first I was ashamed to admit it, but now I am grateful. While this last reason is personal and I do not recommend it. It was something I had to do as student and as a son. When I failed English 1301 last semester I was full of regret. All the late nights parting and skipping class got me nowhere. I refused listen to any of the lessons because I felt that I already knew the information and I did not take the time to do any homework or assignments. I lacked the experience and the learnings to prepare me for 1302 therefore I had to repeat the course. Moreover, being the first in my immediate family to go to college I had to take the course again as a son to prove to my mother and faher that failure is not an option. This semester I looked up to some of my other professors for advice and tips to help better me as a student. Some of these tips included taking helpful notes, going to bed earlier, and attending labs to review material went over in class. These little tips not only made me a more confident student but made me a overall better student. Therefore I am thrilled I had the chance to Repeat English 1301 because I knew now that I would not cheat myself of from my education. Doing my best to avoide all the mistakes I made last semsester I was able to fully larn all the material in Englis 1301 and now I feel ready to move forward to more advanced

In the beginning of the semester, I thought it would be enjoyable to take Anatomy and Physiology since I had already taken it in high school and actually received a high grade. I had heard from many students that this class is much harder in college and will often have a big lecture setting with more than three-hundred students, but I brushed this off and went into the classroom with a positive attitude. I quickly learned that big lectures were not the classes that I would succeed in, instead I preferred a small classroom setting where I am able to ask questions whenever needed. When I was growing up, I remember attending elementary school, learning a new language seems to be difficult at first, but I was able to learn the English language because of the dedication of one of my teachers. Now, as I reflect on this experience, it is obvious that she was dedicated and enjoyed teaching her students to be successful. Roger Bannister once said, “The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.” In both essays, “The Dreamer” by Junot Diaz and “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, dedication was recognized in the Dominican Republic and American Indian cultures. The main characters from each essay experienced many problems and achieved to overcome those problems with dedication. The many times Diaz’s mother and Alexie strived for a better life shows how dedication was an essential part in both novels. However, both characters took different paths to dedicate themselves to a good future. Diaz’s mother and Alexie went through drastic measures to get where they wanted to be in life.
