My journey through seminary and God’s Call to ordained ministry Sunday May 14th is another special day in my faith life and another step in my faith journey. I will be attending the commencement ceremony at Wartburg Theological seminary is Dubuque Iowa to receive my M.Div. (Master of Divinity) degree. As you al know I have a Ph.D. that helped me to come to US and pursue my dream career doing Cancer Research for almost 20 years until 2009. However, while working and pursuing my dream with constant nagging of my pastor Rev. Jeff Lilley and faith family at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lawrence, I started my theological education in 2003 to be a lay leader of the church. The program is called Parish Ministry Associate (PMA) program. After 3 years of vigorous theological education I was installed in December of 2006. Right after the installation beginning of 2007, I started serving St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the oldest Lutheran church in Kansas, Valley Falls Lutheran Church. I preached and presided once a month. However, my dear pastor and …show more content…
I was given an option to take classes at St. Paul’s School of Theology, which was in down town, KS.MO, and also to be a distant learning student at Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa. From where I come from when a pastor keeps asking you to do something, we are afraid to say NO. Therefore, I enrolled in classes at both the seminaries. I could afford ($15,000 tuition per year) to go to seminary while I had full time job. I took most of my classes through distant learning and at St. Paul’s School of Theology, KS. Missouri (night classes). I thought things were going pretty good, pastor was happy, I was working hard to understand theology and pass my classes get good grades. I was making plans to go to full time seminary. However, in 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the day I resigned my job. With dreams shattered, with broken heart I clung to the Lord for
Just over a year ago my dad was called to be the pastor. God gave him the vision that
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.

I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is an amazing opportunity anyone is lucky to have, and I am more than happy to accept it. I love helping people, being able to feel accomplished knowing I put a smile on someone’s face. Being in the National Junior Honor Society, I’d love to share my ideas and thoughts on how to make the world a better place.
I wish to take the time to give thanks for this impeccable opportunity in applying for the highly sought after National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
I am profoundly honored to be among the exceptional people who are being noticed for the National Honor Society. Being considered to join the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. It proves to me that I have accomplished my goals and worked to the best of my ability. In all my years as a student I have always tried to do the my best to get the highest grades. I do not just focus on my academics, I also strive to be a benefit to Stevenson High School. Achieving my goal in becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of honor and joy both academically and personally. As a human being I have aspiration and academic excellence to offer to the National Honors Society. I would be thrilled to join The
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
When I think of the National Honor Society, I think of a group of hard-working, talented students dedicated to their future and their community. In my high school career, National Honor Society members have always been people to look up to, not only for their status, but for everything it stands for.
I’m currently enrolled in Montgomery College, located in Maryland. Montgomery College is a community college. Community colleges are different in comparison to four-year universities. I had a choice of either getting a job or going to college. There are many reasons why I choose to go to Montgomery College. I chose to go to college because I want to pursue a degree in Psychology. When choosing a college, there are a lot of decisions to make and you have to choose what’s best in your interest. In today’s society, community colleges take up a lot of the students going to pursue their education. President Obama has proposed to make all community colleges free for all Americans and I agree with this statement. People have different perspectives
In April of 2016 the week before Easter I was appointed to New Creation AME Church in Washington DC suburb
In summary reflexivity relates to judgements made from one's own personal experiences. By being reflexive and recognising that I am part of the research data and through exploring my own practice with the intention of understanding my practice, I show how I am part of the research. With this new knowledge I continue knowing differently that my story is my data and as such the application of reflection/reflexivity, in such a way as Bolton, Freire and Cuncliffe suggests, will make it all the richer and more valuable.
The Honors Program is less about reward and more about the push for personal growth for myself. The last four years have shown to be a challenge, from being the first year student in Pre-calculus to being the junior who is aiming for a five on the AP test. I came from having mostly A’s, with few B’s, to being the student who earned A’s in every class. Personal motivation led me to this achievement. The Honors Program at CSU looks like a program to help me continue my journey of gaining knowledge. Being a member of this program would give my motivation to continue to strive for those higher grades. It is in my interest to be in this program to keep my performance in classes at the upper level. This program would allow me to focus on academics and strive for the best grades personally possible.
Over the years these call affirmations have continuously provided the anchor necessary for me to strive for ever-increasing levels of excellence in ministry. Absent a genuine confidence in divine calling, it would not be possible for me to maintain a missional focus and passion for fulltime vocational ministry. It is God’s Spirit within me that fuels any forward motion. Despite how much I love serving others and helping others and leading others into more Christ-like lives, I could not, indeed would not do so as a vocation if I were not 100% convinced that this is in fact God’s vision and plan for my life. Even if the United Methodist Church gave a resounding “yes!”
