The roles and responsibility of the Police force
This is a mission statement made by the Metropolitan Police. “We would
provide a high quality Police service in the city of London and work
with the community, other organisations and agencies, to promote a
safe peaceful and crime free environment”
There are many roles that a police officer has. Here is a quote, which
has been made by the greater Manchester police about roles and
responsibilities of the police force. “Our role is to uphold the law
fairly and firmly by preventing crime, brining law breakers to justice
and keeping the peace, protecting, helping and reassuring the
community.
Many people don’t know this but the British Broadcasting Centre (BBC)
is a public service. They are mainly founded by the television licence
fee, which is paid for by the public. The government sets the licence
fee and grants, which support the BBC.
The police service has two main functions, which are to respond to 999
calls and to help the public with any problems.

The primary duty of a police officer is to protect the public (Duties of a Police Officer. 2015.). To accomplish this task, police officers are assigned specific job duties on a daily basis, which vary depending on the size and type of their department. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, common duties of a police officer include patrolling designated areas, answering calls for help, enforcing laws, arresting suspected criminals, issuing citations, testifying in court and conducting traffic stops. The Federal Civil Service system has to do with the three branches of government executive, legislative, and judicial and their officials. When the system of government first came about many of the officials could not do their jobs effectively because of our new government. We have implemented many things into our system of government to help control all issues that we see today. The bureaucracy is a very important part of the government today and has influenced the world in a large way. There have been many attempts to reforms the Federal Civil Service, such as the Sunshine Act, Various Sunset Laws, contracting our procedures, the performance incentives for employees, and the whistle blower protection. Discipline is necessary in all of the Public Services as it moulds people’s behaviour. It can do this in many ways such as causing fear of punishment, offering material rewards, or by offering opportunities if promotion. With the beginning of the 1900 came a reform movement called the progressive model of policing, this began a new era of modern law enforcement. Police then were made full-time employees and still maintained many responsibilities. Their roles now are to prevent crime and maintain order and control. This form of administration was mostly influenced by Max Weber with his bureaucratic model and theory. Max Weber was a well-known sociologist born in Germany in the year 1864. He came up with his bureaucratic model as a way to trying of improve management in organizations.
As citizens of the United States, and as people living under a democracy, the government has certain responsibilities to us. We are guaranteed union, justice, tranquility, defense, welfare, and liberty. These rights are all very important to the well being of our country and the states that exist in it. I feel that there are three that are a little more important than the others.
