In the textbook, “Everything’s an Argument”, there is an article from Charles A. Riley’s book “Disability and the Media: Prescription for Change”. Charles A. Riley, a professor at Baruch College and has obtained many awards for his writing on related issues about disabilities. Charles Riley has written many books on Disability and the Media; Disability and Business and has been honored with City’s Leading figure in New York for supporting the rights of people with disabilities. In the article, Charles has explained the why there is a need of change on how media illustrate the people with disabilities. Charles pleas to pathos is how much media is disrespecting disabled people, “It is important to know the full degree of damage wrecked by the demeaning and wildly inaccurate portrayal of people with disabilities, not it is altogether clear whether much current progress is being made” (531). This causes the readers to feel sympathy for people with disabilities and evokes readers to agree with author. Riley uses strong method to write this article like, logos, pathos and ethos, he argues how the people with disabilities are portrayed in the media. He uses good examples and he has feelings towards this topic and expresses through respectful tone. He gives many problems and discussion on the problem and the solution for it. Throughout an article, Charles uses his rhetorical organization to argue that people with disabilities are not treated with respect and right way, and it needs to be change.
