The European front of WWII was the most dangerous and deadliest war zone the world would ever see, destroying a greater part of Europe and killing more people than the Black Death and The War to End all Wars, World War 1, combined. It's new technological advances such as poisonous gas and jet planes, would ultimately bring upon the age of Nuclear Weapons. It is far and widely accepted by many historians as the worst place on earth during the years of WWII and to many, “the most feared and respected war” (Britannica).
The European front of World War 2 was mainly composed of 2 alliances; The Axis power composing of Germany, Italy and most of the Baltic States and the Allied Power whose members were Great Britain, France and The United States with Russian switching over to the allies in 1941 after being betrayed by Germany. …show more content…

This was mainly to collect a lot of land in order to maintain and expand their military forces. Most of the land was covered with trenches, pillboxes and other fortifications to disencourage a invasion of Nazi occupied europe. It was then covered with massive factories to build anything from airplanes to tanks and labs to make nuclear weapons.
During this time period Russian signed a treaty with Nazi germany not to invade the USSR. The USSR then stayed neutral in the fight until 1942 but supplied Nazi Germany with many tanks and aircraft for a large portion of Poland. Ironically this pieces of land would save Russia in 1942 and 1943. During 1939, France and the UK stayed neutral in hope to prevent another war in Europe but from 1940 and onwards they showed a hostile attitude toward the Axis
