The European discovery of the Americas while viewed by some as costly, resulted in benefits for the worlds it touched. Not only did the Europeans bring new technology and religions to the Americas, but they also created a new nation. This new nation is now one of the most diverse and accepting nations, with one of the most stable governments. A major drawback was the enslavement of millions of innocent Africans as well as slaughtering Indians. While most countries have pretty messy histories, some may argue that this was exceptionally bad. Based on these reasons the result of the European discovery of the Americas was beneficial to the worlds they touched and the world as a whole.
When the Europeans discovered the Americas they came with firearms, massive ships, as well as metal pots and pans. These things were new to the Indians who were at the time living pretty simplistic lives, carrying only what could be easily transported from place to place. Creating a new country is always a messy event, which normally involves deaths of some form. The European explorers were no different with millions of African’s being enslaved and many being killed, along with many more Indians being killed. Though this may seem like they only had negative outcomes, this was in fact very beneficial. For example they brought the Indians some of their new technologies, which helped improve basic life. Lastly they helped create the basis of a new country in which many different cultures and religions can coexist. Based on these facts the European discovery of the Americas had many benefits that outweigh the costs, proving that the explorers positively impacted the worlds they touch. Which leaves us to wonder where the world would be without these
