Betrayal, mad, outrageous passion. Euripides (484-407BCE) was known as one of the three greatest playwrights of all times of Greek tragedy other similar writers of his time includes Aeschylus and Sophocles. Euripides writes of a woman scorned. Medea aids Jason in completing several dangerous tasks, in the process Medea falls in love with Jason and she dishonors her family by killing her brother to please and protect Jason.
Jason betrays Medea by marrying King Kreon’s daughter, he tries to convince Medea that they will all benefit from his marriage to the Princess. Medea is heartbroken, she is in a rage! The nurse tries to console Medea and convince her not to kill the Princess or anyone else.
