“I’m sorry Magnus, but we will no longer be needing your services.” My boss Ethan tells me over the phone.“What why?” I ask, confused. I thought I was doing well at managing his office for him. “I’m sorry Maggie, but we found someone better to break it to you simply.” He says, and I could hear the sympathy in his voice. “Please Ethan, I need this job,” I beg him. “I’m sorry Maggie, but if your job was to make it impossible for anyone to find anything, I’d keep you but love, you’re just not cut out for any job that requires organizational skills.” He says bluntly, and I’ll admit that hurt, but the sad truth is he’s right. But my blissful state completely vanishes as a terrible splintering sound fills the room, prompting me to bolt upright in my bed. And I am dumbstruck by what I find. A piece of the wooden door is now lying battered on the floor and a gaping hole is now visible from the outside of my door. “What the hell are you doing!” I shout at Lillie, who is peering at me through the hole. “You thought I was joking when I said I would break down this door.” She barks at me as another loud crash fills the room and an even bigger hole is formed. “You’re crazy, stop!” I shout at her when she hits the door again and a piece of wood goes flying across the room. “Open the door and I’ll stop.” She says, holding up the weapon she used to break open the door. “You do realize you just sledgehammered your door, right?” I point out while unlocking what was left of the door. “I’m fully aware.” She assured, placing the sledgehammer on the ground as she makes her way into the room. “You need to get out.” She claims, her arms folded across her …show more content…

“Well, I can’t say that’s always the case but in this one, you’d be correct.” He grins and she gasps. “I knew it!” She cheers, and I quickly grab the pink sparkly drink from the counter and hand it to her. “Please, just take it and walk away,” I beg her and she takes the glass, smiling brightly at me. “You’re a good friend.” She bubbles as she stumbles away from me and back into the crowd. I let out a sigh of relief but soon after feel guilty for letting my drunken friend wander back off into the sea of people alone. “She’s lovely.” He claims on a grin; distracting me from my guilt. I peer at him in suspicious. “Are you sure you’re not drunk also?” We laugh briefly before his face suddenly turns serious. “I’d hate to ruin your night by asking this, Magnus, but-” He begins, but I quickly cut him off. “Darius, I told you I can’t work there.” “Why not?” He questions roughly and I shake my head at him. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for him to take no for an answer. Pfft who am I kidding it’s probably because he’s always gotten what he wanted growing up wealthy.
