I believe that the experiments did go unethical to a point of it only being a test it shows that the mind is a beautiful disaster if not maintained well. The novel Lord of The Flies is a great example of what authority and corruption leads to without ethics and morals. This was all in all a devious example of our society.
Life as we know it has restrictions and setbacks but only psychologists are aware of how the mind works due to these outstanding experiments. Upon analyzing his experiment, Stanley Milgram, a Yale psychologist, concludes that people will drive to great lengths to obey orders given by a higher authority. The experiment, which included ordinary people delivering “shocks” to an unknown subject, has raised many questions in the psychological world. Diana Baumrind, a psychologist at the University of California and one of Milgram’s colleagues, attacks Milgram’s ethics after he completes his experiment in her review. She deems Milgram as being unethical towards the subjects he uses for testing and claims that his experiment is irrelevant to obedience. In contrast, Ian Parker, a writer for New Yorker and Human Sciences, asserts Milgram’s experiments hold validity in the psychological world. When you do the wrong thing many people pay for it, especially everyone that you know. When you do the wrong things your family will be ashamed of you. What would happen if there was not the structure and social rules preventing people from acting on the unconscious parts of thought? In the film Lord of The Flies, after a plane crash the survivors found themselves living on a deserted island which brought out certain societal norms with deviant behaviors formed in the different groups of the adolescents. Deviance is something different from what is considered to be normal or morally correct. The societal norms of the island were maintaining the same appearance and also having an aggressive attitude.
