After a crime is committed victimization causes physical and emotional suffering to anyone that was involved. Most victims need help because of the physical, emotional, and financial stress they are put under after the crime. Most help comes from law enforcement, defense attorneys, and prosecutors. The criminal justice system helps the victim by keeping them informed about what is going on with the criminal and what actions they are going to take.

They are allowed to be involved in all of the aspects of the criminal proceedings that happen, they are allowed to speak at criminal proceedings, and to be kept safe during the proceedings and afterward (witness protection and relocation). They are allowed so many more rights even if the victim may seem to think at the point in time that the criminal seems to have more rights than they do, but they would be wrong. The criminal justice system seems to be fairly equal with the rights of both victims and of the criminal.
