1920’s Scrapbook
The Roaring 20s as it is sometimes gone by was a time were many things became popular. For example, sports began to become a big part of people’s lives. The fashion in the 20s also began to not be as strict and there was a larger variety. For entertainment there was the radio, there was the first movie theaters, and sports heroes. As well there was many important historical events. There were also many new inventions that are used today. Overall the 1920s was very important because of all of the things that was achieved over this decade.

Women in particular had a very small choice of what they had to wear but after World War 1 they had a bigger variety. They still had to wear dresses but the standard wasn’t as high. Women began to wear bright colors and the fabric was a lighter material. Designers began to make clothes with all sorts of fabric such as fur coats. For men they normally wore suits. They wore a silk shirt with a handkerchief. Men also wore fur coats, fedora hats, and suspenders. Men could also wear a more casual clothes. Men also began to wear sport clothes out of sports. Babe Ruth was one of the main sport heroes of baseball. By the late 20s about 10 million houses had radios which they used every day. On the radio people could listen to sports, dramas, soap operas, and mystery. The radio impacted many American lives. Movies also impacted a lot of people’s lives. It was one of the biggest forms of entertainment in the 1920s. People began to make movie companies such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount, and MGM. In the 20s movie theaters were also known as Movie Palaces because of their royalty design to them.
There were many historical events in the 1920s ranged from suffrage to rockets. In the early 1920s woman gained the right to vote in America. The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is dedicated. The 1st ever Winter Olympics is held. The first woman governor, Nellie Ross, is elected in America. Robert Goddard invents the first fueled rocket. Charles Lindbergh is the first man ever to successfully to fly completely fly over the Atlantic Ocean. Later on, Amelia Earhart is the first woman to ever fly over the Atlantic Ocean successfully.
