Texas is facing many issues and challenges that are not only affecting our lives now in present day but also our future. Although there are many problems, the immigration and border situation is a huge issue that only keeps on growing over time. In one hand, the presence of so many immigrants are a powerful testament to the attractiveness of America. On the other hand, it is a sign of how dangerously open our borders are and how anyone easily can come in. More than 1 million undocumented immigrants live in Texas, according to the Migration Policy Institute, this has sparked national debate about illegal immigration and the immigration policies have become a matter of controversy. States pay too much to help and take care of immigrants and their children, some of those immigrants just come for the help and us the United States citizens pay more taxes for them meanwhile they just receive the help and don’t even help the economy. The fence was built directly through backyards and farms taking part of many homes and lands. Many citizens were angry because they thought that they were being “punished” and taken for granted with building the wall near them. Many believed that they were targeted to build it there because they had little money to fight the government. Despite the complains the border has also been a place where criminals sometimes pass illegal weapons and drugs to the United States for business and money. I believe that the immigration and border issue is a huge problem Texas is facing and if we let it continue it will affect our generation.
