Stress is one of the common problems that affect the students’ performance known for every university. Accordingly, stress is a way how students respond to pressure (“Stress and Academic Performance”, n.d.) that they were encountering in their academic life. Tertiary years demands so much pressure and time, the occurrence of stress is inevitable and how student adapt to it affects their performance; to meet such demands our bodies will react accordingly in order to regain balance (“Controlling the stressful college life”, 2011). DeDeyn (2008) stated that stress in educational setting (also known as academic stress) is both mental and emotional pressure inflicted by the different demands of academic life.

Dealing with responsibilities requires mental alertness and time management while performing in school requires attention so that learning would be productive and achieved. College students are prone to stress because of their transitional nature of adjustment to the rudiments of higher education program. This means that a sudden change of a secondary school environment that lacks the use of modern technology and standardize curriculum to the highly cognition level of learning resulted to stressful situations. As a result, they find it hard to comprehend with new lessons in classroom and experience cultural differences (Aquino, 1998) which are very evident to every school and this can be observed in every school year. How student get these stress and they overcome such will be surveyed with the use of The Student-Life Stress Inventory (SSI) of (1991) an instrument designed to study college students' stressors and their reactions to stressors.
Applying the strategies on how to deal with stress is historically quite challenging. These includes, close family orientation, proper guidance of the parents, financially supported, positive reframing, positivity, using of emotional support and may other factors. This section also includes recommendations for applying these strategies in a manner that produces more beneficial and effective results.
