School Shootings Have you ever wondered why terrible acts of violence are committed such as school shootings? Why one man shot twenty children, seven staff members, his mom and then himself? Why two kids with evil intentions lead to thirteen innocent deaths and many more wounded? Dylan Klebold, Eric Harris, Adam Lanza and many others are involved in some of the most deadliest school massacres ever in history. They are a prevalent problem and need to be prevented before they even happen.
The statistics for school shootings are alarming and it is hard to believe there are so many of them. Since December 15, 2012 all the way up to December 9, 2014 there have been a total of ninety-four shootings. Those include all unintentional, non fatal, suicides, as well as, fatal shootings; that averages to about one a week. This is a horrible fact and is shocking to actually study just how many there are. 70% of those school shooters were minors and 65% of the kids obtained their guns from home. Those statistics might make you rethink gun control. There have even been a total of six shootings in N.C.

This is a question many detectives asked themselves after the shooting. Evidence shows this may have been in retaliation for being bullied. Klebold and Harris were a part of an anti-socialist group called the “Trench Coat Mafia.” They played violent video games frequently which may have contributed to their violent behavior. Eric Harris was psychopathic, which meant he had a mental illness. This may have lead to his violent behavior and him wanting to lash out at the bullies who tormented him. Klebold and Harris’ actions forever changed society, one might say it even set an example for other killers, such as Seung Hui Cho, a shooter at Virginia
It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.
Preventing School Shootings From 1980’s till now, there are has been many school shootings. Many researchers have made many hypotheses as to why these occur. The most tragic shooting took place in Sandy Hook Elementary. 2.
School shootings have altered American history greatly over the past two decades. From 1997 to 2007, there have been more than 40 school shootings, resulting in over 70 deaths and many more injuries. School shoot-outs have been increasing in number dramatically in the past 20 years. There are no boundaries as to how old the child would be, or how many people they may kill or injure. At Mount Morris Township, Michigan, on February 29th, 2000, there was a 6 year old boy who shot and killed another 6 year old girl at the Buell Elementary School with a .32 caliber pistol. And although many shootings have occurred at High Schools or Middle Schools, having more guns on those campuses would not be a good environment for children to grow up in. However, on a college campus, the pupils attending are not children anymore; the age range is from 17 to mid 20’s. Therefore they understand the consequences associated to the use of weapons and have gained more maturity. In April 16th, 2007, at Blacksburg, Virginia, there was a shooting rampage enacted by Sung-Hui Cho (23 years, from Centreville, VA) who fired over 170 rounds, killing 32 victims, before taking his own life at the Virginia Tech campus. Colleges and Universities would be a much safer place, for student and teacher, if guns were permitted on campus for self-defense purposes.
Mass shootings have become a common occurrence in the United States society and have brought our society's safety debate to the attention of American politics. Both sides of the debate agree that we need more safety precautions but neither side can officially agree on what is to be done. What can we do about the raging number of mass shootings? There is no definite solution for mass shootings but there are precautions the United States can take to try to overcome the overwhelming number of mass shootings occurring. Gun Control is a major topic in the debate of how we can keep our society safer but how is what remains a mystery but we can start with altering the second amendment, and having stronger gun laws and background checks.
Most of us learned when we were very young that we should not judge by appearances. But, in the aftermath of massacres in schools everywhere, a sane person has to take seriously what the material world shows - and pass judgment. After all, a lack of judgment and subsequent action may lead to further youth violence.
Two teenage boys dressed in large black trench coats arrive to school, heavily loaded with tons of weapons.Meanwhile, it's lunchtime at Columbine High School, students are chatting, laughing and enjoying their lunch. On April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 people, injured 23 and committed suicide. The attack was planned many months before and there was even several hints of it occurring. Harris and Klebold possessed many weapons and even placed bombs throughout the school’s campus. This historical event is later known as the Columbine Shooting and will forever go down as one of the nation’s deadliest school shootings. The Columbine Shooting in 1999 was a major pivotal point in the United States. This
My subtopic was gun violence in schools “school shootings.” There have been many schools shooting and most of them had many innocent people dying because of one or two people who had committed these horrible crimes. There are many things that should be done to help innocent people from getting hurt and prevent this from happening again. One thing that should happen is to put guns away or just getting rid of them. People get guns many different ways as you may already know. Sometimes we would just want guns to vanish and everyone one to have peace in the world. Gun violence in schools occurs around the world not only in the United States. The news inform us about the many other countries that are attacked and children or students that have been killed because of terroirs groups. People aren’t safe now days in places that we should believe schools are safe. Many parents are nervous sending their children to school because of the different stories they hear about on the news and from others.
In the United States there have been 142 school shootings since 2013. In Australia there has never been a school shooting. “A school shooting is a form of mass shooting involving a gun attack on an educational institution, such as a school or university”(Wikipedia). According to the United States Secret Service, a school shooting is where the school is purposely planned and selected as the location for the attack. A school shooting may occur between any individual, student, instructor, administrator and staff employed institution (Sinnamon, 2016). There is no one profile to describe a shooter but almost all attackers are students at the school. School shootings occur when anyone enters a campus and begins firing weapons such as a rifle, shotgun
On October 1, 1997, in Pearl, Mississippi, a shooting took place at pearl high school, a 16 year old boy named Luke Woodham went on a shooting rampage. Early that morning he brutally killed his mother then took her car and drove to school. He was wearing a long trench coat to hide the rifle and when he got to the school, he killed two girls, one of them being his ex-girlfriend, and injured seven other people. The reason why he did not get away was because of Joel Myrick, an assistant principal for the school, who ran to his truck, got his Colt .45, and held the boy at gunpoint until the police arrived (Pearl). Later it was revealed that Joel had a concealed carry permit and used to keep his pistol on
America is no stranger to gun violence and the numbers of crimes committed with guns seem to be growing every year. School shooting are a crime that has been around for a long time but has grown in the number of offences especially in recent years. So the question most people ask is how do you reduce the number of crimes committed with fire arms? One of the first things authorities can do is to identify and categorize what type of people are committing these crimes. If you know what kind of people are likely to bring a gun to school and kill classmates and teachers, then there might be a way to put some preventative measures into place. Three common adjective you will hear to describe someone who is a school shooter, are loners, mentally ill and racists or bigot. Over the next few paragraphs we will look at the traits associated with those kinds of people.

The FBI could make its own device to unlock the iPhone. Apple is needed in this case because the iPhone that was used is password protected.
A mass shooting is defined as a public shooting in which four or more people, not including the perpetrator, are killed. The epidemic of mass shootings in the United States over the past few years have been well documented in the news, social media, and even during the recent election cycle. Even with the prevalence of this heinous act in our society there is still a lot of confusion and mystery as to what causes people to commit this atrocious crime. According to Gun Violence Archive (2015), the reported number of mass shootings in the United States climbed as high as 333. When trying to explain the cause of these crimes there are a myriad of different factors that can be evaluated. Location, race, type of firearm, age, and mental conditions are only a few factors that can affect the cause of the crime. In this paper we will attempt to explain how these factors affect the occurrence of mass shootings in the United States.

Seeing the headlines ‘Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School’ on the news, and they broadcasted it for a long time as a result of wanting justice for the kids and teachers. Adam Lanza shot an entrance to enter into the school. Roaming the hallways, he snuck into the two classrooms murdering twenty innocent first graders and kindergarteners, as well as moving onto killing one of the teachers (Sandy Hook shooting: What happened?). The children, whose lives fell that day, were not able to have a chance to grow up and explore the world, including the teacher, who will not be able to see her children grow up and raise a family of their own. In the world school shootings are growing at an alarming rate, and we must find a way to slow it down; violence should not be the answer for things. As for Adam Lanza his mental stability caused the school shooting, since he had
There is a long history of school shootings. In the past, people would go to a school and let out their anger by shooting because back then it was easy to buy guns. It was also easier for them because there was no good way of protecting the schools. Like the columbine shooting, the shooters just walked into the school and started shooting. Nowadays it is harder for shootings because schools have better ways of protecting themselves. For an example, they put glaze on windows so it's harder for someone to break in and the doors double lock from inside and outside. As an result schools should have ways to protect themselves and increase security.
