In the United States, many would believe that all individuals have a right to health care. These citizens believe that everyone should have access to health care and that everyone should have an equal opportunity to get the care they need for themselves and their family. The United States of America has been built with many documents that can be interpreted to support the belief that health care should be a right for everyone. The Declaration of Independence is one of the greatest foundation documents of our country and states that all men are created equal and that they have certain unalienable rights including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Article 25 of this declaration references that every human in the world has the right to “a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control”. (http://www.un.org). Through the proclamation of this declaration, America has announced the right of its citizens to adequate health care to achieve a standard of well-being. If an individual was involved in a car accident and needed to seek medical attention because of injury they, as a citizen of the United States, have the right to medical attention. Under article 25 it states that US citizens have the right to security in the event of sickness, and disability. If anyone in this country became sick or has a disability, they have the right to see a health care provider and obtain the treatment or medical attention they require to help them get to a state where they are happy and can enjoy life.
