There has always been a special relationship between man and the creatures that inhabit the world. Even though the giant pandas are not part of the same species as humans, they are a part of the same world as us and should be cared about. The pandas are being threatened and may go into extinction years from now. The endangerment of the pandas can associated with humans and what effect they can have on an animal’s habitat. Many people are trying to save the giant panda population including conservation organizations. Some of these organizations include World Wildlife Fund. This organization as well as others are trying to find a way to help save these beautiful panda bears.
Compared to other species, the pandas are considered the baby of the bunch. In 1869, the giant panda was first discovered in a province in China called Sichuan. Sichuan in located in the southwestern part of China. Even though the giant panda is from China, the French are credited with discovering the pandas. Armand Perez Davi was the Frenchman who is credited with discovering this beautiful creature. He thought the panda was just a black and white bear because of how similar they look but tests proved they had less similarites than though. Once the panda was discovered years later poachers would cause the panda population to decline.
Due to the decline of the panda population, reserves began to help protect the pandas. In the early 1960’s the first four pandas were created. These reserves were an effort to help increase the panda population and decrease poaching. Also during this time period, the pandas were now illegal to hunt. The situation on the giant panda can be improved even more and can cause the pandas to come out of endangerment. Something more that can be done is to hold yearly fundraisers. Once a year the whole world should come together and have “Panda Day”. During panda day, people could donate money, get educated on the giant pandas and do a webathon to raise even more money. This could be a major way on raising money for the pandas and to help encourage people to volunteer and reserves. The giant pandas can come out of endangerment if the situation of the giant panda improves.
No animal should ever become endangered and eventually extinct if it ever happens and the future of the giant pandas is in our hands and as humans it is our responsibility to try to save them.
