Essay On Genetic Engineering And Cloning

621 Words2 Pages

Over the past few years scientists have been using cloning and genetic engineering. Cloning is the action of copying an organism’s (e.g. human) DNA and replicating it. This will give you exact twins. Genetic engineering is the process of adding new DNA to an organism manually. This is to add genes that were not in the organism originally. These two have some similarities but are not that alike. Most people make a fuss over both subjects saying it’s not right while others think it is an advance in technology and very useful. I am not fond of the ideas and think they can lead to big problems in our life. Cloning and genetic engineering are very different, however do share some similarities. When a scientist clones an organism he works with the DNA of the organism found in the cells. The cell is replicated with the DNA inside the cell. This allows two almost identical organisms to form. Genetic engineering also deals with DNA. When adding a new trait to something, you must add it to the DNA where genes are located. Both, cloning and genetic engineering, work with DNA. Cloning and ge...
