Fiberglass insulation is a type of thermal insulation. Thermal insulation materials are specifically designed to reduce the heat flow by limiting heat conduction, convection, radiation or all three while performing one or more of the following functions: The main function of insulation is to reduce the heat transfer, the insulation material must have the appropriate characteristic to slow down the transport of heat occurred by conduction, convection and radiation. We use Johns Manville fiberglass insulation liner on our pre-fabricated Heating, Ventilating and Air-conditioning sheet metal duct. Fiberglass insulation is used in air-conditioning duct systems for thermal and acoustic purposes and helps prevent moisture from building up in the duct. …show more content…

A key component of the HVAC system is the air handling unit. The air handling unit forces temperature controlled air through a carefully designed duct system. Fiberglass insulation products are used in the majority of duct systems installed in the United States and are an important part of a well designed, operated and maintained HVAC system that will provide both thermal and acoustical benefits for the life of the building. Fiberglass duct wrap is a flexible resilient blanket that is also used in our pre-fabrication shop. Duct wrap is applied to the exterior of sheet metal ducts it can easily be cut and fitted to achieve a neat thermally effective exterior insulation blanket for rectangular, round, oval and irregularly duct shaped surfaces. When applied to the exterior metal ducts this product controls condensation and reduces heat loss or gain.
Another type of insulation we use is fiberglass liner. Fiberglass duct liners are blankets or boards of glass fiber insulation with either a coating or a fibrous mat on the surface facing the air stream. They are used as thermal and acoustical insulation and are applied to the inside of sheet metal duct work with metal fasteners and adhesives. We use variety of densities and thickness that range in different thickness from ½” to 2”. Fiberglass insulation controls heat loss or gain through the duct wall and helps control moisture condensation and is air tight when properly
